  • 10.8. The whole story!

In reality you need lots of experience to be a security expert, and we’ve just given you a taste of some of the issues that come up. Security experts need a wide range of expertise, including dealing with the changing needs of an organisation, planning what to do if the organisation is attacked, and giving input on which operating system is best used in each part of a system. As well as the general skills needed to support an organisation’s security, there are many specialised areas in cybersecurity, such as cryptocurrency and forensics. But a key element of security is education of the user, and if you understand what has been covered in this chapter then you’ll be more sensitive to the threats to the systems you use, and also more able to understand the policies and procedures that can sometimes seem like an inconvenience.
